We pay tribute to Shri Devinder Singh Bedi a visionary leader, an exemplary educator and a passionate advocate for quality learning. His remarkable journey began with the focus on education, driven by an unrelenting quest for excellence. For over five decades, he dedicated himself to shaping minds, fostering growth and empowering generations. His tireless efforts yielded transformative results, as he inspired countless individuals to strive for excellence.

From humble beginnings to remarkable achievements, his legacy serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication, visionary leadership and selfless contribution.
He was born to an agriculturalist and studied at rural schools. He migrated from West Pakistan after the partition of India took place in 1947. He got his higher education at  Ambala.  After completing degree in teaching of education, he joined at Dagshai Public School, Dagshai Cantt, Himachal Pradesh where he worked for five years and taught Science (Non-Medical).  Besides he took active part in sports.  He was also House Master of hostel at Dagshai Public School.   In 1970 Mr.D.S Bedi having a progressive mindset and forward looking approach considered to start an English medium school at Chandigarh with Indian culture . At the outset an English medium co-educational institute was set-up in private rented building.  After a span of two years he thought of forming a charitable educational society.  He became a founder member of Shivalik Educational Society which was registered at Chandigarh.  Mr. D.S. Bedi ,a well-known visionary in the field of education , had been a guiding beacon and motivating force in turning them into ideal oases of education and development. He was a qualified Football Referee.  He had also been a member of Sports & Physical Education in the 8th Five Year Plan of Govt. of India.

In a way the institutions run by the society are sharing the burden of the State Govt. in providing quality education.  The school is a self-financing institution and surplus is invested for the development of institutions run by the Shivalik Educational Society.  Mr. Bedi was also a Chairman of Independent School’s Federation of India.  He was in the Governing Body of various institutions like Kendriya Vidalaya & Navodya Vidalaya’s and public schools of the region.

It is because of his proactive leadership and planning with expertise in the field of education, the schools run by the Educational Society rank amongst the best in North India.  Making a beginning in 1970, the society now has schools at Chandigarh, Mohali, Nawanshaher, Patiala .
He is very concerned with the reputation of the society and its institutions and always focuses on making things better than bigger.   Due to excellence in sports the school was adopted by the Sports Authority of India, New Delhi in 1986 and the sportspersons were chiseled by NIS trained coaches for International competitions.
Mr. Bedi has his own dreams.  Now it is turn to make it a reality - Growing & Glowing.

As we honor his memory, we acknowledge the profound impact of his work. His educational philosophy continues to illuminate the path forward, guiding us toward a brighter future.
A salute to his exemplary educational outlook, visionary thought, and enduring legacy.
